We've tried to reduce the cost of adventure by cutting out some of the frills associated with large commercialized travel companies. The treks certainly aren't for everyone. They are designed to experience the thrill of adventure on the road less traveled and explore some areas that often lack many amenities.
Go with the Flow - The treks are purposely designed to experience the adventure of travel independently without the services of a traditional tour guide. They are not strictly structured so that each adventure trek can go with the flow of where the journey takes us. This is what makes each trek unique. Mind set - The treks are not about a specific age but about a state of mind. If you're not into a community atmosphere, or prefer not to be around others who do then this may not be for you.
Adventure - A curiosity for unscripted travel itineraries and a respect for natural surroundings.
Mother Earth - Most Trekkers have an instinctive appreciation for nature and its natural beauty. Humankind - Culturally conscious with a healthy respect for fellow passengers and locals alike. Father Time - If you simply have to be at a certain spot at a given second, or need meals at a certain hour, or need to be entertained at a certain time every day then you should probably go on a canned tour. But, if you can get into the mañana mode and enjoy the adventure of the unexpected then this is probably for you. After all, isn't this why we really travel? Pitch in - The costs are low because people help each other out during the trek. From cooking to recycling, the treks are designed for group participation to maximize savings and time. People coming on the treks should expect to pitch in and help with camp activitites. Small Scale and Locally Based - Most Trekkers prefer to support small family owned businesses and locally run cooperatives during their trek thereby supporting the local economy while providing more value for their travel funds. Nitty Gritty - The treks are designed as camping adventures for those who prefer to expereince the thrill of the road less traveled and natural surroundings. As such, we sometimes go to some areas that do not have access to certain modern facilities. When this occurs U.S. Forest Service guidelines for waste disposal and sanitation are followed. "Twenty years
from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't
do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away
from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore.
Dream. Discover."
